What is ethnic minority discrimination?

Vietnam is a multiethnic nation with 54 different ethnic groups with unique characteristics. With a population of 78.32 million people, the Kinh ethnic group accounts for 85.4% of Vietnam's population. The remaining 53 ethnic minorities account for only 14.6% of the country's population. So what is ethnic minority discrimination? It's any discrimination against a person or a group base on their race, origin, culture and the uneven distribution of income across ethnic lines, which is harmful to development rather than diversity.

Here are some discrimination that many of them have to face

Ethnic minorities often focus on mountainous and remote areas, but they are also scattered throughout the territory of Vietnam due to war and immigration. The majority of households living in rural and mountainous areas do not have access to hygienic water sources and electricity from the grid.

Despite having less access to education than the Kinh, many ethnic minorities still have a civilized culture. However, there is significant variation in educational levels between ethnic groups, especially in literacy rates. The overall literacy rate is 79.8%, while literacy rates range from 34.6% for the La Hu to 95% for the Tho, Muong, Tay, and San Diu. The big difference between the literacy rates of each ethnic minority is due to lack of access to education for many ethnic minority students. For example, some minority have to travel a long distance to go to school, frequently between 9 to 70 kilometers. In addition, gender discrimination still exists among ethnic minorities due to the wrong mindset.
